Market Valencia

Jessy's letter on the market.      Later that day Jaymie and I went off by ourselves to explore the city. We found a fresh food market that would make my parents drool. I wanted to take pictures, but it was kind of a shady place to have my camera out or my purse open. But the food was amazing. Apart from having every type of fruit and veggie in season available, they had lots of exotic fruits and out of season
fruits from across the Meditearanian. Jaymie and I ate fresh figs and pears (mmm...pears!) and pineapple and watermelon and some funny fruit that dyed our teeth and mouths bright magenta. Then there was the fish. Each and every type of fish or sea creature that I knew existed was present there on ice. There were old ladies with huge butcher knives slicing through the larger fish and chopping heads off of the smaller ones. There were squid and octopus tentacles everywhere and some sea creatures that I could not identify. There were stands with all kinds of herbs and some of every kind of nuts (roasted, candied, salted, raw). My favorite were the stands of " meat" which included cow brains and pig testicles and some large flaps of smooth scale-ie white mass that we could not identify. But mixed among the stands of food were tapas restaurants and bars and if you want to try the freshest
food in spain, I recomend the market.
