After spending far too much time on my computer, neglecting every other aspect of my life to explore the depths of Catalonia customs and cuisine I finally emailed my findings to our good friends, fellow foodies and traveling companions for this trip Bert and Karen this afternoon. We will be exploring strange a new world of Jamo'n Serrano from black Iberian pigs, real sangria and cava (Spanish sparkling wine), seafood paella, grilled octopus and Palacios Chorizo. We will be traveling to Barcelona and boarding a Holland American ship, making our way around the Mediterranean from the FrenchRiviera (visiting the famous Monte Carlo Casino where Sean Connery first introduced himself as Bond, James Bond) sailing on to several ports - the last of which will be Valencia, Spain where gilded gold glassware is still hand blown as well as the traditional ceramics, wearing the 1200 AD blue and yellow paints of Moorish times. We will dock back in Barcelona spending an extra 3 days to tour the city at which point our traveling buddies will proceed to Rome while Gary and I visit Salamanca where our daughter, Jessy was able to spend a semester while getting her B.A. from Texas A&M.
Tonight we will refine our travel plans with Bert and Karen as they have graciously invited us over for one of Karen's specialties Étouffée. Adios mis amigos por ahora!
